Welcome to Ayubowan.asia. Here we’ll try to answer as many of your wedding-related questions as possible. We’ll explain why we chose Sri Lanka for our big day, how you can get there, where you can stay and what you can see. Click on the links at the top to move around.
Ayubowan is a Sinhalese greeting. Day-to-day it means hello (and goodbye), but it also has a wider meaning that roughly translates as “may you live long and healthy”. So, Ayubowan!
We travelled to a dozen countries in 2010 before settling in Far North Queensland - and Sri Lanka was right at the top of our favourites.
In particular, after a wonderfully luxurious stay, we fell head-over-heels for our wedding venue Amangalla. Having decided to get married half-way, rather than in Australia or the UK, we wanted to ensure our venue would be perfect. After sampling its hospitality, we’re confident this grand old lady will be a truly memorable venue.
Nestled in the centre of 400-year-old Galle Fort, the splendid building now housing Amangalla was built in 1684. After 140 years trading as the New Oriental, the hotel was reopened by the Aman Group in 2005.
We will marry in the courtyard on Friday 11th November 2011.
